This reports presents the findings of the Safe Start National Survey of Children's Exposure to Violence. The survey, sponsored by OJJDP with support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, is the first to measure children's exposure to violence in homes, schools, and communities across all age groups. It found that more than 60 percent of the children surveyed were exposed to violence, directly or indirectly, within the past year.

Each site developed a different approach involving the application of evidence-based practices to address children's exposure to violence.
